Development
of the
ICF Core Sets for Lupus Erythematodes (SLE) and Systemic Sclerosis
(SSc)
Both
Systemic Lupus Erythematodes (SLE) and Systemic Sclerosis (SSc)
are rheumatic diseases which cause various problems of functioning
in daily life. In order to comprehensively map functioning in these
patients, we have embarked on the international project for developing
ICF Core Sets for SLE and SSc. In line with the already existing
ICF Core Sets for chronic conditions, this development will include
two versions: The Brief ICF Core Sets for both SLE and SSc will
be a very focused list of categories essential for SLE and SSc clinical
trials. The Comprehensive ICF Core Set will be much broader and
useful for guiding multidisciplinary assessment in patients with
SLE and SSc.
Again, the standard procedure for the development of ICF Core Sets
will be folloed.
The preparatory phase of the SLE project will be partially funded
by the so-called 'Bürgermeister' grant from the city of Vienna,
Austria.
Additional grant submissions for the preparatory phase of the SSc
project in cooperation with Professor Murray Baron from Montreal,
Canada, are currently in preparation.
The development of the SLE and SSc ICF Core Sets is designed to
be an inclusive, open, world-wide process. We, therefore, invite
both SLE and SSc clinical experts and SLE patients to actively participate.
