Alarcos Cieza, PhD, MPH is a Steering committee member of ICF Research Branch. She is leading the research unit Biopsychosocial Health at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, a multi-disciplinary research group committed to the optimal description, assessment and understanding of individual behavioural and social determinants of health and quality of life of persons with chronic health conditions and the general population. She has been a collaborating expert at the Swiss Paraplegic Research in Nottwil, Switzerland since 2006. Dr. Cieza was born in Ciudad Real, Spain. She received her diploma in Psychology in 1994 from the University "Pontificia Comillas" in Madrid and completed her PhD at the Department of Medical Psychology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in the fields of neuropsychology and health-related quality of life. She also obtained a master's degree in Public Health and her venia legendi in Public Health and Medical Psychology at the same university. She is a lecturer in Medical Psychology and in Health Sciences at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University.
